Track Time With the Timer

Start the timer in the header when you begin something, stop it when you're done, and it's saved as tracked time.

Updated

The timer in the header records what you’re doing as you do it, such as writing or studying. Stopping it saves the time as tracked time, on Activity › Activities and Activity › Time.

Start the Timer

  1. Choose the timer in the header, press T, or search for Start timer….
  2. Give it a Title, such as “Writing”.
  3. Choose Start.

While it runs, the header shows how long it’s been going. It keeps running as you move between pages, and even if you reload, but only on the device you started it on.

Stop It

Choose the timer, or press T again:

  • Stop saves it as tracked time, from when you started to now.
  • Discard throws it away.

What Tracked Time Is For

Tracked time adds up as Tracked Time, a metric of its own, kept apart from exercise: an hour of writing never counts as a workout. It shows on Activity’s Time page among your other hours, and like any metric it can be charted, compared, or made into a habit, such as at least 10 hours in any 7 days.

To fix a session, such as a timer you forgot to stop, edit it like any activity.
