Compare Metrics on One Chart

Chart up to five metrics together on the Correlations page to see whether they rise and fall together, and how to read the chart.

Updated

Does your resting heart rate go up after short nights? Does your weight follow your energy intake? Correlations, in the sidebar, puts several metrics on one chart so you can see.

Compare Metrics

  1. Open Correlations. It opens on Compare.
  2. Under Metrics, pick two or more, up to five. Before you’ve picked any, you can start from one of the suggested sets.
  3. Choose the range in the chart’s heading. Points are by day, or by week or month over a longer range.

Reading the Chart

How the metrics share the chart depends on their units:

  • One unit: they share one axis, such as weight and lean mass.
  • Two units: each has an axis of its own, left and right, labelled with its unit.
  • More: each line is scaled from its lowest value in the range, at the bottom, to its highest, at the top, so their shapes line up. The legend gives each one’s lowest and highest.

Point at the chart, or tap it, to see each metric’s real value, in your units. A metric that adds up, such as steps, is shown by its total for the day, week, or month; one that’s averaged, such as weight, by its average. A metric with no values in the range is named under the chart.

What It Can and Can’t Tell You

  • Moving together isn’t cause and effect. Two lines that match may both follow something else, such as the season, or match by chance.
  • Look at enough data. A pattern over a week means little; over months, more.
  • Gaps matter. Days with nothing logged leave holes.

Comparing metrics you choose is free. To have Kaizora search every pair for you, see Find Correlations With Discover.
