Log Your Lab Results

Type in a blood test result by result, with values such as "< 0.5" and the range the lab printed, and see each draw together on the Labs page.

Updated

Each lab result is logged on its own, with the time its sample was taken and the lab that ran it. Results with the same time and lab make up one draw, shown together on Health › Labs.

Log a Result

  1. Choose Log, then Lab Result. On an analyte’s own page, such as LDL Cholesterol (Direct), Log starts with that analyte chosen.
  2. Choose the Analyte by name, such as “HbA1c” or “Ferritin”. Pick the exact one on your report: LDL measured directly is a different analyte from LDL calculated by an equation.
  3. Type the Value and pick its unit.
  4. If the report gives a bound rather than a number, such as “< 0.5”, choose its Comparator: <, ≤, >, or ≥.
  5. Type Range Low and Range High as printed beside the result, or leave out the side the lab doesn’t print.
  6. Type the Laboratory, as named on your report, such as LabCorp.
  7. Set the Time to when the sample was taken, not when the results came, and choose Log.

For the next result of the same draw, choose Log again and use the same time and laboratory.

The Labs Page

  • Latest Draw shows your newest draw’s results, each marked Low or High where it’s outside the lab’s range, and how many are. Previous draw and Next draw step through your history.
  • History lists every result.
  • Metrics lists each analyte you have, opening its page, with its chart over the years.

Ranges for Lab Results

Each lab prints its own range for its own method, so each result is judged against the range you typed from its report. The only default ranges on lab analytes are the American Diabetes Association’s prediabetes and diabetes thresholds for fasting plasma glucose and HbA1c. You can add a reference range of your own to an analyte, such as a target your doctor gave you.
