Add a Reference Range
Add a band you want a metric to stay within, with a severity, judged on each value or over a window of days, and see values outside it flagged.
Updated
A reference range says where a metric should be: above a low, below a high, or between the two. A value outside it is flagged with the range’s severity: Mild, Moderate, or Severe.
Kaizora comes with default ranges from published guidelines, such as the blood pressure categories. Add your own for anything else: a target your doctor gave you, or a band you’ve chosen.
Add a Range
- Open the metric’s page, for example Resting Heart Rate.
- Under Reference Ranges, choose Add reference range.
- Fill in:
- Label: what the band is, such as “Healthy”.
- Severity: how much being outside it matters.
- Low and High, each in the unit you think in. Leave one empty for no limit on that side.
- Judged Over: Each value on its own, or the average of a window of days ending each day, such as a Week. A metric that adds up, such as steps or caffeine, is judged by the total of its window: a Day judges each day’s total.
- Notify me, to get a notification when a value or a window goes outside it.
- Choose Add.
A range keeps the unit you set it in, and a range on money keeps its currency, so it means the same thing however you view it.
Where Flags Show
- On the metric’s chart, as a band in its severity’s colour.
- On cards and in Metrics lists, as a coloured badge with the severity, or In range when every range that checks the metric holds. Out-of-range metrics are listed first.
- On Home and each area’s Overview, under Out of Range.
- On entries in History and on the Timeline, as a badge.
Flags are worked out whenever you look, so a new or changed range applies to your whole history at once.
Several Ranges
A metric can have several ranges, such as a mild band close in and a severe one further out. A value is flagged with the most severe range it’s outside.
Change or Delete a Range
Use the range’s … menu in Reference Ranges to Edit or Delete it. Deleting a range only stops its flags; your values stay. Its Notify switch turns its notifications on or off.
A Note on Health
Ranges and flags help you keep an eye on your own numbers. They aren’t a diagnosis or medical advice. Talk to a health professional about what your results mean for you.
