Add Your Places
Name the places you go often, such as home, work, or a gym, to measure your time there and name the stays in your location history.
Updated
A place is a named circle on the map, such as your home, your office, or your gym. Places label your location history: they measure your time at home and at work, name your stays, and come first when you search for a position.
Open Places
Open Location, then choose the … menu at the top right and See Places. It’s also at the end of the list wherever you pick a place, and in Search. The page shows your places on a map above a list, each with your time there.
Add a Place
- Choose Add place (or search for Add place… from anywhere).
- Give it a Name, such as “Home”.
- If you like, choose a Category, such as Home, Work, School, Gym, or Café. A place’s category is what counts it toward Time at Home or Time at Work.
- Set its Centre: search for one of your places, a business, a building, or an address; choose Use my current location; or Enter coordinates.
- Set its Radius, in any unit of distance, wide enough to cover the building and where your phone tends to place you inside it.
- Choose Add.
From Location History, an Unnamed stay’s menu has Add as a place, which starts a place centred where you stayed.
Change or Delete a Place
Open the place’s … menu:
- See locations opens your locations inside it.
- Edit changes its name, category, centre, or radius. Your time there is worked out again at once, for your whole history.
- Delete removes only the place: your locations and readings inside it stay.
Searching for a Position
Searching by name looks through your places first, then OpenStreetMap’s places and addresses. Only what you type, and your device’s rough position to rank nearby results first, is sent to the search service, Photon.
