Add a Custom Food
Add a food the database doesn't have, with what 100 g of it holds, then log it, edit it, or delete it.
Updated
When a food isn’t in the database, such as your homemade granola or a product from your local shop, add it yourself once and log it like any other.
Add a Food
- Choose Add custom food: on Nutrition › Food Database above the list, in the dialog that logs a food, or from Search.
- Give it a Name, such as “Homemade granola”.
- Fill in what 100 g of it holds: its energy, macronutrients, and any vitamins and minerals you know, grouped under headings. Each value has a unit menu at its end, so type it as the label gives it. Leave out what you don’t know.
- Choose Add.
To work from a label that gives values per serving, divide each by the serving’s weight in grams and multiply by 100.
If you started from the dialog that logs a food, it goes on to log the new food: set the amount and choose Log.
Edit or Delete Your Food
In Food Database, choose My foods to see your own, then open a food’s menu:
- Edit changes its name or nutrients.
- Delete removes it, after you confirm.
Neither changes what you already logged: each food you ate keeps its own copy of the nutrients, for the amount you ate.
Your foods are yours alone. The USDA’s foods are shared by everyone and can’t be changed.
